Since we moved from Tucson in December to Ray City, GA we have been back 3 times. I feel I have neglected my duties of telling you about Tucson and all it has to offer.
Back story: I lived in Tucson for 37 years. To me that is an issue in telling you all the good things about Tucson because I know the bad, boring day to day life of Tucson. I did have some glorious things happen to me in Tucson…I gave birth to 3 glorious babies, who turned into wonderful productive men with wonderful wives. They all went to TUSD and are intelligent. So if you are moving to Tucson…TUSD isn’t as bad as you may hear, in fact our oldest son is a teacher at one of the high schools.
Also Roy and I met in Tucson and we have wonderful memories of our life there.
So, on our last trip back to Tucson I saw all our kids in Tucson and all the grandchildren. The first night we spent with our youngest and her daughter. We had dinner at BZ’s Pizza. http://bzpizzaco.com/ We had the bread knots, and two large pizzas. For 3 people it was way too much food but it was good. We recommend BZ’s for good craft beer and pizza. My son recommends it for Happy Hour but he says the language from the construction works can be a little harsh, especially for children.
The next night we had dinner at El Charro Café, downtown. http://www.elcharrocafe.com/ The reason we chose the one downtown is because that is the place where Roy and I met. When I met Roy, I was living downtown in a tiny duplex. I wanted to go back by my place and to be back to that moment when I first saw his face. We had a wonderful dinner with our oldest son and his beautiful bride. The food at El Charro always delivers. I have to warn you the service is usually a hit and miss.. usually a miss. So when you go in, just be patient.
When I lived in Tucson people would always complain there was nothing to do and that is so not true. Tucsonans have a love hate relationship with their town. They complain about it a lot but they will be the first to defend it. Tucson has great weather, sunsets, beautiful mountains. The things that are bad about Tucson you will start seeing the minute you leave the airport but don’t let it stop you from making your own opinions of Tucson.
