Additions at Close Quarters

We had been looking to add another dog to the family and when I say we I mean me. I wanted another dog like Scarlett. She is such a wonderful loving dog. She is a good dog and I thought it would be nice to have another Pit Bull. So I, responded to an ad online bout these 4 week old puppies and they would be ready at 6 weeks. At 5 weeks I get a call from the breeder that the puppy was ready to come home to me. A little apprehensive, we go and get her. We named her Belle for Miss Belle Whatley from “Gone with the Wind” Thinking she would be a strong Pit Bull. What we got was the whiniest puppy ever and not just the nice pitiful whine, but a high pitched ear piercing whine that all you want to do is stop that God awful noise. And at 2 in the morning death is possible. My pit bull puppy is not. From what I can tell she is a RAT Terrier.  Personally, I am not happy with this but she and Scarlett have bonded and if Scarlett is happy , then she can stay. Belle also may have an eyesight issue, that she covers up with her other senses.  She smells and hears well. Then again with her ears standing up like that who wouldn’t be able to hear well.

She is lacking in intelligence, she still has not learned that peeing and pooping in your crate are not a good thing. She has no concept that you have to go outside to go to the bathroom. So potty training is not going well. She is 12 weeks now, so she has been with us for most of her life. I am hoping she does better after she is spade next month.  This is what a rat terrier looks like:Image result for rat terrier dog

Yes, she is cute at times. If anyone has any information on rat terriers, I would appreciate it. I thought I was getting a pit bull and I know nothing about rat terriers.

So, tell me do you think she is a rat terrier, also? #ratterrier

Other things around the homestead are, I am working on my shooting skills with my BB gun. I am getting pretty good. When my shoulder gets better Roy is going to let me shoot the shotgun. Probably not a skill I need because he is retiring in 2 1/2 months and will be home. I am looking forward to that and am worried too much time together could be a bad thing.  I am willing to risk it because I hate it when he is not home. He does so much around here. When he is here I don’t have to do anything.  I do like to help but at times, being spoiled is nice.

One of the things we are trying to figure out is how to live on less money. He is looking at cutting the Dish and the cell phones. Cutting back to one cell phone. I would like to get a Georgia phone number. We do have a home phone number, anymore you can’t get internet without the phone. We are looking for an old rotary phone but they are all running around $60. We don’t want to pay that much…yet. It would be nice to be able to give up both phones but where would the kids send pictures of our grandbabies to. Plus we need one for when we start traveling again. I was just sitting here trying to figure out do we give up my number or his? He has had that number since his kids were in school probably 10+ years. this cell phone thing is going to get tricky. I wonder if he has even thought about all this stuff. Probably not. I think maybe we need to find a cheaper plan for the two of us.  Only time will tell.

I am ready for retirement! Bring it on!!
